Welcome to the Forest Moon of Endor!

Celebrating the 40th anniversary of the Ewok movies and all things Star Wars, we’ve planned a trip to Roy’s Redwoods (a.k.a. Forest Moon of Endor), the filming location of the TV Ewok movies, Saturday, August 16, 2025, for a day of exploring and adventures among the Ewok Redwoods. Roy’s Redwoods Preserve is near Woodacre, California.

Here's the Plan:
We’ll meet at the Roy’s Redwoods Preserve large parking area Saturday morning, August 16, 2025, for a day of exploring. Out-of-towners may stay nearby, perhaps Woodacre or Fairfax.

We will hike the trails, see the filming locations, and have some special guests! Dress up in Star Wars attire is acceptable!

We recommend bringing bottled drinks and a picnic lunch. A group dinner Saturday evening to share stories and photos is also possible. We plan to meet in public places for the safety of all concerned.

The Preserve (Here's a map):
Roy’s Redwood Trail is a three-mile loop with 400 ft. of elevation. It’s mostly rolling hills with a couple steeper spots. But actually not very hard at all but it is a hike. Another option is meeting the group in the “exploration area”, in the main Redwood area.

The exploration area includes “fort building” and is located along the Roy’s Redwoods Loop Trail within the preserve, and a designated section with open space suitable for building small, temporary forts using natural materials found on the ground. This will look like an Ewok village and ideal spot for photos and a picnic lunch.

Three-Mile Hike Parking:
The large parking area is on Club House Road, off Sir Francis Drake Blvd, just east of Nicasio Valley Road. Club House Road may not have a sign. There is also portable restroom in the lot.

Shorter Hike Parking:
There is limited road-side parking near the Nicasio Valley Road entrance to Roy’s Redwoods.
Park on the either side of the road. There is bathroom hut.

Ewok adventure idea:
The three-mile hike group could meet at the Club House Road parking lot at 9AM and walk the Roy’s Redwood Loop Trail counterclockwise and meet the short hike group around 10:30AM at the Exploration Area. Then the combined group can explore the main Redwood, scramble and fort building areas together.

The Map:
Each person will receive a poster map (as seen in the Caravan of Courage) as your Endor Express to the Forest Moon souvenir.

And Stickers:
We'll also hand out these super cute and exclusive Ewok stickers to all in attendance!
